In this tutorial you will learn...
What classes are
How the different functions affect the class
So, we've learnt how to create actors, and select what class they're in, but what is a class? Well, you're about to learn
all about them.
Open your database and select the Classes tag. It will bring up a window looking like this...
This is where you can create and modify your own (and the existing) classes. Classes affect lots of things: the weapons and armours that can be
equipped, the position in battle, which skills are learnt as levels are gained, how effective the class is against the elements
and how likely the class is set states to enemies. To create a new class, click the 'Change Maximum' box at the bottom of the Classes pane,
and put the number up by one. A blank pane will become available. Now you can create your own class!
1 - The name of the class.
2 - The position of a character from this class in battle. This affects how well the enemies can target the players, but it is
a hidden parameter and is not displayed anywhere within the game.
3 - This controls which weapons and armours can be equipped to your class in-game. For example, you cannot equip a Mage with an Axe! Just
play around with this to get the hang of it. I'll cover how to create weapons and armours later on.
4 - This affects how efficient the class is against different elements, taking into account strengths and weaknesses. These are the
classes strengths.
5 - This affects how easy it is for the enemies to set states to players of this class.
6 - This controls which skills the player learns as he or she progresses through levels. You can add skills and levels in by right-clicking
on the white space below the final one, and clicking 'Edit'. You can now choose which skill your player learns, and at which
level. See below...
You can also delete existing skills and levels by highlighting them and pressing 'Delete' on your keyboard. I'll tell you all about
skills in the next tutorial.
So, I want to create a new class for my Darius player. I want him to still be able to use Bows, but I want him to be able to use
magic too. You can see how I did it below...
Because Darius is a Fire Sorcerer, we want him to be strong against things that fire is strong against. So, I set the Fire option
in the Element Efficiency area to A, which means that he is really strong against things that fire is strong against. Also, because
Sorcerers can easily inflict confusion (well, let's say they can, for the tutorial's sake) I put the Confuse option in the State Efficiency
area to B, which means he can quite easily make an enemy confused.
Now, if we go back to the Actors pane again, we can see that our class has become available on the Classes menu! Let's put him in
that class, and we'll move onto the next turoial - skills!
